About Kpop
Back in early 2020 when I came across Kpop to date, I'm always eager to share my love for K pop with anyone willing to listen. I was thrilled by people's amused responses. Personally, I prefer pop to other genres with BTS and Blackpink as my favourite bands among others like Itzy, Straykids, Twice, Redvelvet and many more.
Talking about kpop gives me the thrill of just knowing one of the best music industry in the world. In my opinion:)
- Their performances are attention grabbers because of how well they do their performances, from their melodious vocals to wonderful dance moves.
- I can't help but compare their music industry to the one in our country. Our country's music industry should generate ideas from them and come up with music containing good content. Listening to especially gengetone musicians in our country singing about drugs openly is not something exciting. Especially with the young generation now exposed to the use of drugs.
- Another thing that makes kpop stand out is their interactions with fans. In kpop, they have names for their fans, I was also shocked by how creative they are! eg, BTS's fans are called Army, Blackpink's fans are called Blinks etc. This gives their fans a sense of belonging. Knowing that their artists practice hard to impress them warms their hearts and that is why they are significantly supported. That is why BTS have even won Grammy awards.
- They also have rules that prevent them from influencing the public negatively which is something that needs to be emulated by musicians. For example, you will never hear artists from kpop that publicly smoke or engage in fights. Or even use inappropriate language in public. They truly make the best role models.
- The kpop industry has social platforms for fan interactions like Vlive where they spend time talking to fans encouraging and showing love to their supporters. The fact that they find time in their tight schedules to engage with fans is amazing.
Kpop merch is something else that thrills me. The industry promotes clothes, blankets, dolls and many other products with artist's images for sale which fans wear and use for decorating their spaces at home. This is an idea that's worth it because fans get to support them by simply purchasing their merchandise.
- Their popularity has enabled them to become brand ambassadors which makes their popularity grow even more. With BTS modelling for Fila, Lisa from Blackpink a Celine and Prada ambassador and Jennie too for Chanel brand just to mention a few. This allows them to look breathtaking in their performances adorning these brand clothes.
- In all kpop groups except for Miss A and Blackpink, there is a leader for the group. This is an important trait for bands to emulate because with a leader things run smoothly. Information also passes through the right channel and the leader guides or acts as the pillar of the group.
In Kpop groups there is a concept of having a visual. The visual is simply the member who is considered most attractive by the ideal set of beauty standards in the band. He/she is the one who mostly gets offers to appear in commercials.eg, is Kim Taehyung from BTS, Jennie and Jisoo from Blackpink etc.
- Last but not least, Kpop has greatly influenced Korea's tourism because large numbers of fans attend concerts in Korea from across the world. They have also influenced their fans to gain the interest in learning their language hence spreading Korean culture everywhere. The fact that they are trained from a young age helps a lot when it comes to how they relate with fans from different origins.
In my point of view, I would encourage people aspiring to become musicians to borrow tips from Korean music industry. I t is an awesome industry with nice music because the artists give their all in creating music content.
